I’m just back from the best couple of days in Paris with my boyfriend Eamon. I had the best of intentions to just relax and drink coffee and wine – but there is so much to see in Paris we did end up spending most of our time running around from place to place. Literally every street is a site in Paris, every single apartment building has the prettiest details with flower-boxes sitting on the windows and all the cobblestoned streets are just so perfect.
We had rented an Air BnB apartment near the Eiffel Tower and it was perfect. I have heard such great things about Air BnB but this was my first time using it. It was much less expensive than a hotel and we were a ten minute walk from the Eiffel Tower – with a view of it from our room (see a video here). Saying that, we were sleeping on a pull-out couch, but for what we needed it for, it was perfect.
We arrived on Friday night just in time to catch the Eiffel Tower’s beautiful sparkling light show. Every hour on the hour for ten minutes it sparkles. I love this outfit I wore on my first night, it’s definitely not my usual style but when I saw the skirt I fell in love and if you can’t wear it in Paris, then where can you? I’ll be doing an outfit recap with all of my outfit details tomorrow on the blog.
Saturday morning we woke up early for a day full of sight seeing. We got tickets for the ‘Batobus’ boat – this is a hop on/ hop off boat that stops at all the major attractions. The Notre Dame was our first stop followed by a trip up to the famous Love Lock Bridge. Both of these attractions are located in the stunning Latin Quarter – with the most beautiful narrow Parisian streets it was probably my favourite stop on our trip. There’s nothing I love to do more than just wander around, especially in a city as pretty as Paris. We found a lovely créperie and stumbled across the cutest courtyard – it’s always the places you don’t mean to find that are the most memorable in my opinion.
Saturday night we celebrated 4 years together from the Top of the Arc de Triumph before grabbing dinner on the Champs Elyseés. The weather was so perfect while we were there – perfect Autumn weather. Cold enough to wear a jacket but warm enough to walk around without freezing!
On Sunday morning we set out early for a fab Parisian breakfast complete with amazing coffee and croissants. We then head to Trocedero to catch one last view of the Eiffel Tower.
Our next stop was the Louvre where we caught a glimpse of Mona Lisa – you might have heard of her? All the buildings that surround the Louvre are just so fab too. They look like they fell straight out of a Kanye West Music Video, or a history book haha!
We finished off our second day in Paris with a another quick stroll along the Champs Elyseés – this time I had to stop into Laudreé for some macaroons – which I’m still working my way through (they’re just too pretty to eat).
It was the perfect weekend break away – since I’ve moved home from New York I’ve been non-stop busy with work and college work so it was nice to be able to take a break and just enjoy the beauty of Paris.
I’ll have another Paris post tomorrow with all the details of what I wore,
Hope you all had a good weekend,
