What’s in my Everyday Make-up Bag?

January 2, 2016

Hey guys,

I hope you all had a great New Years! I’m so excited it’s 2016 and I wanted to start the year with something a bit different. Make-up is definitely not a strong point of mine, it’s something I’ve been saying I’ll get better at for a long time, so I thought why not start the year at least trying to do this.

The last few months I’ve been working on improving my make-up collection. At first it can be overwhelming because of the amount of products there are out there, but I’ve been following different blogs, chatting with make-up artists and looking at YouTube tutorials for tips and recommendations. I’m really happy with what I’m using at the moment so I thought I’d share what I use everyday as a guide for those of you who, like me, are not experts in the make-up department.

Over the next few months I’m gonna work on developing the basic skills of applying make-up as well as collecting the right products/ brushes that everyone should have in there make-up bag.

I hope this helps some of you when you’re choosing products, and if anyone has any tips/ recommendations for me I’d love to hear them 🙂

Here goes nothing,

The Base

I start by applying concealer under the eyes and then move to applying foundation. I used Mac Studio Fix Foundation for a long time and I loved it but I wanted something a little bit more dewy and less matte so I changed to Armani Luminous Silk which I love. It’s really light, long-lasting and gives a gorgeous glow. I mix it with Maybelline Fit Me to get the perfect colour for my skin, this foundation also offers a little bit more coverage. I set it with the No.7 Light Loose Powder.

The Contouring

I don’t contour everyday but I do love these Smashbox Contouring Crayons – they come in a set of 3 (Highlighter, Bronzer & Contour) and with a set of instructions for how to contour. Everyone will contour their face different as we all have different shaped faces, but it really does help when you are pretty clueless (like me).

I always use bronzer – I actually use it instead of blush. This one is Mac Mineralize Skinfinish.

The Eyebrows

For my eyebrows I have been moving between gels and pencils for a while, but this Mac Eyebrow Pencil is definitely my favourite. I only discovered this Nars Skin Colour Eyeliner over Christmas and I love it. It’s great for defining the brows and for fixing any small imperfections.

The Eyes

I’m so lazy when it comes to my eyes. I will try and make an effort for night-time but for during the day I’m very boring and just use Mascara. Even at that I’m not very picky about which Mascara’s I use, I do find this one great though – do any of you have any recommendations/ favourites?

The Lips

Lipliner and Lipgloss are probably the two pieces of make-up I couldn’t live without. Mac do some great Lipliners – my favourite being Whirl and Soar, and this Victoria’s Secret lipgloss is literally the best. It lasts so long and smells so good. My friend Lorna brought me two home from America at Christmas, I was so happy!
