Here we are at the start of another week. How is it mid-June already? There’s so much on at the moment that time seems to be just running away on me. This weekend was spent at Body and Soul Festival in Westmeath. I hadn’t camped at a festival since Oxegen in 2010 (6 years ago) – and that was definitely not an easy camping experience as it rained the whole time. I mentioned in my last few blog posts (here and here) that I was a little nervous about camping, and although I only did it for one night it really wasn’t as bad as I had remembered it.
Having the right camping equipment definitely added to our enjoyment of the festival. Aldi were kind enough to send me out some of their camping gear. Our 2 man tent popped itself up, so we didn’t have to worry about putting it up. It was also really light and came in a little bag with handles, making it easy to carry in to the festival. This tent is only €25.99. We also had the 5 man tent from Aldi (€99.99) which looked amazing and so spacious but it was quite heavy so we would have needed a wheelbarrow to bring it in. Next time I will definitely be bringing a bigger tent though, we hadn’t really taken into account the fact that our bags had to come into the tent with us. My favourite piece from the Aldi camping gear has to be the moonchair (seen in the pics)- how cute! This was only €24.99. They’ll all be available in Aldi from Thursday, June 23rd onwards! They also have tent lights, picnic bags, sleeping bags, basically anything you need to get your camp set up 🙂
The festival itself was a dream – the beautiful decorations, the amazing food and the unreal atmosphere of the crowd was like nothing I’ve ever seen in Ireland before. Everyone was so chilled and happy – even in the rain. If you were following me on Snapchat (username: lou1409) you may have seen I struggled with the rain a little haha. I definitely will never be a pro camper but I had so much fun with my bestie Derv and am so proud of us for sticking it out for the night! It’s all about just doing what you can to make the camping process easier – and Aldi definitely helped with that.
I’m in recovery mode now and getting ready for another busy week 🙂
Have a good one,
