I hope you all had a lovely weekend. They just go by too fast these days don’t they? I mentioned in a blog post recently about the challenge of balancing work and blogging, and at the moment I’m really cherishing the weekends. Those daylight hours are things I really miss at the moment with it just getting bright as I head into work, and it’s pitch black by the time I leave.
I try to make the most of every second I have, but then comes the question ‘when is it time to just switch off?‘
I think that’s something that a lot of people struggle with – whether you work in blogging, you work for yourself, you’re doing a course, you have kids, whatever it is… In a world that’s moving more and more online everyday, there isn’t really such a thing as designated down-time. It’s something you need to create for yourself.
My work is 9-5 and my blog is everything in between that, its the first thing I look at when I wake up in the morning, it’s the last thing I think about before bed and it’s where I spend all of my lunchtimes, holidays, weekends… It falls somewhere in between work and a hobby so I think that’s where the confusion of when to ‘switch off’ comes in.
Don’t underestimate the value of doing nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering – Winnie The Pooh
For me, it’s something I only recently learned I need to include in my plans. I always say I just wish I had an unlimited supply of energy for all the things I want to do, but the fact is, I don’t and no one does. There is only 24 hours in a day and that’s never gonna change. So as much as it’s important to get stuff done, it’s also important to relax and enjoy the now. Continue Reading…
‘Where laughter is timeless, imagination has no age & dreams are forever’ – Walt Disney
I don’t even know where to start with this post. This trip was just the coolest, funnest, most amazing trip I’ve ever been on. I’m so glad I can finally share the pics on my blog and tell you all about it. At the end of September for 3 days I went with Primark, my gal Lauren, and two UK YouTubers Maddie and Corrie to Disneyland Paris to shoot for their Primark x Disney collection.
The whole experience was just unreal. We stayed in the beautiful Disneyland Hotel, we ate in the Disneyland restaurants, we got to go around on the carousel like 10 times in a row and we got Mickey and Minnie all to ourselves for photos. We shot 3 main looks – 1 outside the castle with Mickey and Minnie, 1 on the Carousel and one PJ look in the Castle room. The smiles on our faces are real smiles, we laughed the whole way through each day.
Disney was such a huge part of my childhood, every line in every movie I know by heart. It was a dream come true to be there ‘working’ and with my blog. If I had known this time a year ago all the opportunities that would come my way because of my blog, I wouldn’t have believed it. In September last year I moved back from New York, with a small, new blog and I remember being terrified. It was something I loved and really didn’t want to give up, so I worked really hard and just feel so grateful that it’s all worked out. I got to go to Disneyland for work with my best friend, that’s pretty unbelievable. Continue Reading…
I’m back again with another shopping post. I got some nice feedback from you when I did my last post on Winter Shopping, so I promised to make them more regular. This post looks at 15 pairs of Winter shoes under €50, from my favourite online retailers. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I find I get much better value for shoes online, rather than when I go into shops. I can get 4 or 5 pairs of shoes on ASOS for the price of one pair in a high street shop.
There is always a risk with size, but most online shops have a pretty simple (& most often free) returns service if the shoe doesn’t fit. My summer shoes seem to last me years, but winter shoes get destroyed in a matter of months, so for me its about having some good options that are suitable for the cold, wet Irish weather. I don’t want to spend a bomb on them, as I’ll more than likely have to replace them in the new year anyway. So below are 15 of my favourite winter shoes under the €50 mark.
Let me know what you think, or if you know of any other good online shoe shops,
I hope you all had a good week. It was nice having the short week this week to ease us into the winter season. With all the beautiful autumnal colours around at the moment it’s hard to believe Christmas is just around the corner. Until you step into any shop that is. It’s crazy how fast retailers jump on the ‘Christmas’ bandwagon – but hey there are worse things in the world to complain about.
This weekend I’m heading to the Europe hotel in Killarney, and I’m so excited! I’ve seen so many beautiful photos of the hotel, and of Killarney in general. The weather is supposed to be lovely so hopefully we’ll get time to do a little drive around the mountains and countryside. Follow me on Snapchat (lou1409) and Instagram for updates 🙂
Here I’m wearing all Primark – my best finds in Penneys in a while 🙂 How amazing are these over the knee faux-seude boots? And they are only €25! I also can’t get enough of knits at the moment, and camel coats, and grey jeans! This look epitomizes everything I love about Autumn/Winter style, and I got it all for under €100. The knit jumper is €20, the jeans are €15 and the jacket is €28. All available in Primark now! Continue Reading…
