My Top 5 Tips for Packing

July 24, 2017

Hi there,

The sunny weather today was a nice treat to kickstart the week, hopefully some of you got out to enjoy a little of it. I was busy getting myself organised for the Seychelles on Thursday, and thought, with all the travelling I’m doing lately, a blog post with some tips on packing wouldn’t go astray.

It’s something I’m asked about a lot and I suppose the more I travel, the more I learn how to make the dreaded ‘packing’ a little easier for myself.

I have narrowed it down to my top 5 tips for packing and hopefully some of you will find these useful for upcoming holidays 🙂

  1. Make a List

Sometimes I hate the idea of lists, for fear of knowing all the stuff I have left to do, but it really is the best way to get organised for a trip. Between clothes, toiletries, adaptors, chargers, cameras, medicine… and whatever else you may need to get, do or organise before you leave – there is a LOT to remember.

I jot down what I need as I remember in a note on my phone or else in my diary. It’s all worth it when the list is all ticked off and the suitcases are packed and ready to go! Continue Reading…

Taking a Second

July 20, 2017

Hey there,

I hope you’re all having a good week. My last 2 weeks since finishing work have been crazy with travelling, working, and celebrating. I’ve loved every second and have never seen a fortnight go by so fast in my life but I’m excited for a few days of normality now.

I have a week at home before my next trip (to the SEYCHELLES – ahhhh!) and I’m using this time to take a little breather, sort out my life and really take in how amazing the last while has been (one of my New Years resolutions!) I also have a LOT of outfit planning to do before next week. I love holiday outfits and usually have planned everything I’m going to wear before I go anywhere (otherwise I’d never be able to pack!)  Continue Reading…

New York New York

July 13, 2017

Hey guys,

As you may have seen on my social media, I spent the last 5 days in New York City and what an amazing week we had!!! With having just finished work last week and it being Gerard’s birthday on Sunday, I couldn’t think of a better place to spend a few days. We literally spent our time eating, drinking, laughing, dancing, sunbathing and catching up with friends – both of our favourite things to do!

New York is without a doubt my favourite city in the world. I spent 3 summers out there before moving out for a year in 2014. I was reminded as soon as we arrived absolutely everything I loved about the city: the lights, the energy, the weather, the people and most importantly, the mindset. I actually got emotional walking around the first day, just remembering all the (mostly) good and (occasional) not so good times I had while living in the city, away from all my family and friends. I grew up a lot in New York and when I left in 2015 I definitely wasn’t ready to go.  Continue Reading…

Getaway Gorgeous with Kildare Village

July 6, 2017

Hey guys,

So as you may or may not have just seen on my Snapchat (username: lou1409) I’M GOING TO NEW YORK TOMORROW!!!! AHHH!!! By far the best surprise I have ever pulled off and I have never been so excited for a trip away with Gerard 🙂

Kildare Village invited me out to pick out some holiday outfits ahead of my travels – and although my wallet can’t quite afford all of these designer brands normally, Kildare Village makes them more attainable with up to 60% off RRP. I love visiting Kildare Village – it’s such a relaxing place to shop and I have the comfort of knowing I’ll always find something amazing at an even better price. I picked up a few fab bits that you will see on my Instagram over the next few weeks but here is a selection of five holiday looks I styled just for fun!

I hope you like them, let me know what you think,

I’m off to finish packing 🙂 Make sure you follow my trip on Snapchat (lou1409) and Instagram (@louisecooney_) I have a feeling it’s gonna be a good one!

Have a great weekend guys,

Lou x

Shopping: My Favourite Summer Shoes

July 3, 2017

Hi guys,

With holidays well and truly on the brain for most of us in rainy Ireland this summer I thought I would put together a post with some of my favourite shoes for the summer months and for holidays. God knows I have stocked up on a few too many considering most days I could get away with winter shoes haha!

Happy shopping 🙂

Flattering Swimwear for your Body Shape

June 16, 2017

Hi everyone,

Coming from someone who has literally bought 4 bikinis online in the past two days, and searched this exact topic myself yesterday – I think it’s fair to say that this is an important topic at this time of year. You gotta dress that ‘summer bod’ right and cater to your own shape. It makes all the difference to how you feel in your swimsuit. After all, the sexiest thing you can wear is confidence.

I’ve given some general shopping tips below, some examples of styles that work well as well as listing my favourite places to buy swimwear.

I’m sure I’m not the only one with holidays on the brain right now, so hopefully this post will help you get somewhat organised with your holiday shopping,

Happy Friday,

Louise x

Tummy concealing

Hiding your tummy is actually a lot easier than people think, the simple goal is to draw attention away from the mid-section. You can do this by covering it up, or cleverly disguising it.  See my tips and swimsuit picks below:

Shopping Tips:

  • Peplum shapes are not just for the office! They work wonders on the beach too.
  • If you carry your weight in the lower part of your belly, try on a retro, high-waisted suit. They’re on trend and great for covering the tummy
  • A full-piece with ruching can also help to conceal your stomach.
  • Choosing any one-piece with a plunging neckline with help to keep the focus upwards, rather than on your mid-section.

Large Bust

If you’re more well-endowed on top, then support is key. Opt for swimwear with underwire or molded cups to get the support you need. Avoid ruffles or embellishments up top if you’re hoping to minimize the focus on your chest.

Shopping Tips:

  • Bra-style bikini tops with underwire and adjustable straps provide are best for the bust 😉
  • Look for higher backs that help support your chest
  • Molded cups provide that little bit of extra support

Small Bust

You can look for styles with more minimal coverage or embellished detailing, bows, and patterns to create the illusion of a larger chest.

Shopping Tips:

  • Triangle tops create the illusion of curves, as do tops with bold prints or embellishments with ruffles.
  • Bra tops, halter necks and padded push-up tops offer extra lift and can create cleavage.
  • A smaller bust always means you can wear tiny scoop tops or bandeaus — embrace them!
