On My Mind: Learning to Believe in Yourself

February 16, 2018

Hi guys,

So this week’s topic is something that really has been on my mind the past few weeks, and something I know myself I need to improve on: learning to believe in myself. It’s ironic I’m writing a post about it as it’s probably not something I should be giving advice on. I’ve always struggled with self-doubt a little bit, and I know others do too. I know it might sound ridiculous coming from someone who’s job is to put themselves out there online, but I’m not always as confident or sure of myself as I make it out to be. I guess opening up and being honest about it will let others know they’re not alone when they feel that way – and it can be a little reminder for us all that feeling this way is just a feeling, and we need to learn to fight it.

Learning to believe in yourself can open up endless opportunities in your life. Continue Reading…

On My Mind: Instagram VS. Reality

February 4, 2018

Hi guys,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I had such a nice one, I did a lot of relaxing and eating – getting up this morning was extra difficult as a result – but no regrets 🙂

I’m not sure if you are aware but tomorrow, the 6th of February, is Safer Internet Day in Ireland. As being online and using social media is my job, I spend a lot of time here which makes me extra aware of the good and the bad parts that come with it.

A few weeks ago I had a meeting with CyberSafeIreland to learn a bit more about it all, and to figure out a way that I could help. CyberSafe Ireland are a not-for-profit organisation that work to educate kids, parents and teachers on how to navigate the online world in a safe and responsible manner. They do a lot of school talks, so I thought I might be able to help anyone reading this by bringing some of the things I learned from CyberSafeIreland to my blog. I’m also going to share some of my own experiences and things I’ve learned (and am continuing to learn). Continue Reading…

My Promises (as a Blogger) for 2018

January 28, 2018

Hi guys,

What a week this one was! It was literally a dream come true. You may have seen on my social media I was flown to Paris with Armani to launch their new Si perfume – Si Passione. You can see my full vlog of the trip here! I’m still getting my head around it. I just can’t believe I got such an amazing opportunity.

I was a part of a really cool shoot with 15 other amazing bloggers from around the world including @songofstyle, @queenofjetlags and @marianna_hewitt. I love their photos, blogs, and YouTube videos so much so it was just amazing to meet them. Every time I meet people I look up to, or get cool opportunities I always leave feeling so inspired. I was the same after the Dorothy Perkins shoot in London last week, and honestly I’ve never needed some inspiration and motivation more. Continue Reading…

On My Mind: Homelessness in Ireland

January 26, 2018

Hey guys,

So this week I’m going to talk about something that is a little bit different for my blog. If you come here for fashion and travel – don’t leave yet. I promise what you’ll read here will open your eyes and your heart to things that are much more important. I know I’m lucky to have this blog and to have such lovely people reading it. I want to take the opportunity to divert your eyes from fashion and matieral things every now and again, and to raise awareness about things that are more worthy.

Why This Topic?

Tonight, I’m judging the Battle of the Bands competition in the Limerick Institute of Technology in aid of Focus Ireland with a particular focus on Youth Housing (watch this video to get a better idea). Focus Ireland provides services for homeless people. It is the largest national voluntary association in Ireland. If you watched my Vlogmas, you’ll know that before Christmas, on one of the colder nights, Gerard and I swapped a date night at the cinema for a night helping the homeless. I didn’t share it on social media, mainly because I didn’t want people to think I was doing it for a pat on the back. But on second thought, we should be proud to share these things. Even more so than the other great parts of our lives we show on Instagram everyday. Anyway, we walked around Dublin City Centre for 2 hours giving hats, scarves and gloves and offering teas and coffees. There was other people out helping that night too – but anyone we helped appreciated it so much. They were so friendly, and kind to everyone. I just wanted to do something good that might help those people sleeping rough – but I can’t explain how much my eyes were opened, I feel like I gained more than they did, which definitely wasn’t my intention. I was reminded how lucky I am to have a home and how many kind people there are in the world – no matter what their situation is. Continue Reading…

On My Mind: Positive Mind, Positive Life

January 18, 2018

Hi guys,

I hope you are all having a great week – we made it through Blue Monday!!! It’s gotta be all uphill from here right? The January paycheck (for most) is on the horizon and the evenings are slowly but surely getting a little bit brighter – woohoo!

Today’s on my mind blog post is going to focus on positivity, because that’s one thing we could all definitely do with a little more of on these miserable wintery days haha. I’m going to give some tips that I think are helpful for staying positive and fighting away those negative thoughts. The way you think about something, can change your day, your mood, your interactions with people and your outlook on life. I’ve had my own experience learning this, and I’ve done some additional research for this blog – I’ll share both.

First of all let’s talk about Positive Thinking… What is it?

The “power of positive thinking” is a popular idea, it can even feel a little cliché at times. Some of you are probably rolling your eyes at the sound of it, but the mental and physical benefits of it have been proven many times. Positive thinking doesn’t mean that you keep your head in the sand and ignore all things negative in the world. Positive thinking just means that you approach these not-so-great situations in a more positive and productive way. It means thinking the best is going to happen, rather than the worst. It encourages you to look for the good in people and yourself, rather than the bad.

5 Things to Lift Your Spirits

January 11, 2018

Hi guys,

I’ve changed my mind a million times about what I was going to do this week’s ‘On My Mind’ blog post on. I have actually started and stopped a few different ones, but to be honest we’re almost at the end of the second week of January and I think we could all do with something uplifting and inspiring to get us through these dark, dreary days. I have made a list of 5 things I know will bring you some joy & inspiration – so sit back, grab a cup of tea and enjoy:

  1. Holly Butcher’s Life Lessons

Holly Butcher, an Australian woman not much older than me, sadly died last Thursday after a battle with cancer, and she has wrote a beautiful post about the important things in life. Something we could all definitely do with a reminding of when we are giving out about the silly, trivial things we give out about on a daily basis (especially in January).

If you haven’t read it already, here is the link and I have copied and pasted it below as well:  Continue Reading…
