Settling back into the normal work day routine is never easy after a week off, especially in the summer. I think it’s ingrained in us Irish to feel shame being inside on a sunny day. Being back and knowing it’s only for the short term as I head back to Ireland in September makes me sad. I love where I work and the people I work with, not to mention all the friends I’ve made and experiences I’ve had outside of work. I can’t even begin to tell you how sad I’ll be to leave – even though I know there are a lot of good things about home – I could definitely do with another couple of years in the city.
“If you like something different and mad every day then New York is for you” – to quote one of my colleagues Gavin. I’ll definitely miss the madness!
As I’ve said previously dressing for work in the summer isn’t easy with the heat. I’ve been taking advantage of all the summer sales going on at the moment to stock up on some handy work pieces that will stand to me.
I’m also trying to make the most of the bright, warm evenings and my last bit of time here. It’s easy to do in New York as there is always so much happening. Nearly every day I’m doing something different after work (my Snapchat comes everywhere with me – lou1409) so I do try and plan for this when I’m getting dressed in the morning.
