I learnt the hard way that loving New York as much as I do is not always a good thing – I sometimes forget how big and scary it can be. On Saturday night my iPhone 6 was stolen from my handbag while sitting with my 2 friends Erika & Audrey in a bar. The person who stole it had tried to change my iCloud password before I had even noticed it was gone – which wasn’t long – anyone who knows me knows I wouldn’t be without my phone for long. It was switched off immediately meaning the ‘Find My iPhone’ app was completely useless. They knew exactly what they were doing and they did it quick. Since Saturday I have heard of three different occasions from friends that have had the same thing happen in this same bar. For my New York friends just a heads up it was the 13th step in the East Village.
It’s such a horrible thing to be so far from home and to loose something like your phone – with all the information we keep on our phones these days it’s not an easy thing to take and definitely not a cheap thing to replace.
I know its just a material thing so on the scale of things it’s really not that bad – it’s an eye-opener to be a little bit more careful. I’ve definitely gotten comfortable in New York and I do feel safe when I’m with my friends but you just never know.
To add to the beauty of this whole situation yesterday was the hottest day I’ve experienced in New York this summer. The temperature went up to 37 degrees Celsius (99 degrees Fahrenheit) The perfect day to be trekking between Apple & T-Mobile… not! It’s so hard to dress when it’s this humid out. I shot this look 2 weeks ago – another one I’m just getting around to posting now. This playsuit is perfect for hot summer days in the city – light and airy!
