What a crazy week this has been. Every day and night has been non-stop, it’s hard to believe its just over a week until I’m going home. I’m afraid to blink incase I miss the week going by. Of course I can’t help but get nostalgic after the year – I’ve always been a fan of reminiscing – I have kept a diary all my life, I take lots of photos and currently have 8 shoe boxes of ‘memories’ at home in Ireland tucked away in my wardrobe.
This year is going to be a great one to look back on but I also think it’s a great one to look forward from. It’s been such a great learning experience – from working in my first real job, to living on my own, to blogging, to making new friends and all of this I’ve done whilst being 3,000 miles from my family, friends and boyfriend.
I feel like I am going back to Ireland with a different attitude than when I left. I’m excited to make the most out of every opportunity and every day – just like I’ve done here. Some of the main things I’m looking forward to are:
- Family & Friends – First & foremost I can’t wait to be reunited with some of my favourite people.
- Having a real life boyfriend again – I’m so happy to say that 12 months on me and Eamon have made the year away work and are still together but I can’t wait to be living in the same city and to enjoy the fun side of being in a relationship again.
- Travelling – it only takes going away to realise how easy (& cheap) it is to get places at home. Let the new bucket list begin!
- Work – I’ll be starting a new role in a new office – I’ll also be finishing the post-grad I’m doing in March – who wouldn’t want another graduation?
- Food – there are so many new restaurants even since I left last September that I’m dying to try – I’ve already started a new list of places to try and if anyone has any recommendations please send them my way!
- Blogging – I’ve really gotten into it over here this year so I’m excited to blog from a different city. New York, as busy as it is, is almost an easy city to blog from as there is something different happening everyday – Dublin definitely has a smaller blogging scene but I’m looking forward to learning more about it and documenting my experiences back in Ireland.
- Meeting new people – This is something I’ve always loved. I’ve met so many great people this year and made so many new amazing friends that I know I will have forever. I’m excited to do the same next year. Dublin was just voted the second friendliest city in the world by Conde Nast readers – so I imagine this won’t be very hard!
Anyways, about the outfit. I shot this look last week after work in Madison Square Park. The typical New York August weather has arrived and it is SOO humid. I have a daily battle with my Air Conditioning unit – but I won’t complain about that. I’d rather be hot than cold any day! As you may have guessed – Monochrome clothes have become a huge part of my wardrobe since moving here, mainly because it makes mixing and matching so much easier and it is easy to dress up or down. I love this scalloped skirt I picked up in Topshop last week – I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of it in the winter too. I posted a series of my favourite End of Summer sale pieces on my Facebook yesterday here. All of these pieces are great as they could definitely be carried through to winter.
Happy shopping!
